機織機の構造をプリンターに見立て、インクのCMYK4色と、用紙を象徴する白の5色でテキスタイルを制作。

5色の糸をそれぞれかすり染めし、手織りによって一枚の生地へと織り上げ、角帯に仕立てました。

デジタルプリントの「色を重ねて表現する」という仕組みを、糸を重ねて布を織る伝統的な技法へ置き換えることで、プリンターと機織りという異なるものづくりの構造を重ね合わせています。

By likening the structure of a loom to that of a printer, we created textiles using five colors: the four CMYK ink colors and white, which symbolizes paper.

We applied kasuri dyeing to each of the five colored threads, hand-wove them into a single piece of fabric, and tailored it into a kaku-obi sash.

By replacing the digital printing mechanism of “expressing color through layering” with the traditional technique of weaving fabric by layering threads, this work overlays the structures of two distinct manufacturing processes: the printer and the loom.
