2020年3月7日〜29日まで、滋賀県のギャラリーサラで開催された「世界で一枚のシャツ」展に向けて制作。

会期中の3月11日は、東日本大震災から9年を迎える日だった。

遠く離れた場所で起きた出来事を、自分のいる場所に置き換えて考える。
もし、この穏やかな琵琶湖で大きな地震が起きたら。
いつも目にしている美しい水面が、突然、街や人を飲み込む波へと変わったら。

静かな水面から、少しずつ大きくなる波。
その変化を、首元から広がるスモッキングの形で表現した。

青のグラデーションに、手描きの波模様を重ねたシルクオーガンジー。
その水面には、建物や車を象った透明なモチーフが浮かぶ。

波は大きくなり、街を巻き込み、形あるものを飲み込んでいく。

美しいもののすぐそばにある、目には見えない脅威。
そして、9年前の記憶を、遠い出来事にしないために。

Created for the “One Shirt in the World” exhibition held at Gallery Sara in Shiga Prefecture from March 7 to 29, 2020.

March 11, which fell during the exhibition period, marked the ninth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

I tried to imagine an event that occurred far away as if it were happening right where I am.
What if a massive earthquake struck this tranquil Lake Biwa?
What if the beautiful water’s surface I see every day suddenly transformed into waves that engulfed the town and its people?

Waves gradually growing from the calm water’s surface.
I expressed that transformation through the shape of the smocking that spreads out from the neckline.

Silk organza featuring a gradient of blue overlaid with hand-painted wave patterns.
Transparent motifs representing buildings and cars float on the water’s surface.

The waves grow larger, engulfing the town and swallowing everything in their path.

An invisible threat lurking right beside beauty.
And so that the memories of nine years ago do not become a distant event.
